I am an experienced Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN). I hold dual Board Certifications as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in adult health (ACNS-BC) and orthopedics (OCNS-C) in addition to being a licensed APRN in the state of Minnesota. Currently I serve as a Clinical Nurses Specialist and Instructor of Nursing at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN supporting Practice Optimization and Acceleration (POA) within the Department of Quality and Affordability. I challenge myself, leadership teams, and nursing staff to improve access management, care team models, patient education, pain management, nursing practice, and quality through innovative solutions. I have lead a number of multidisciplinary teams with the goal of optimizing technology in the healthcare setting. In 2015 and 2018 I received CoDE Innovation grants to develop and test innovative patient interventions including digital patient education delivery strategies for the perioperative surgical population; point-of-care mobile computing platforms for delivering pain education and care planning; and augmented reality for patients with phantom limb sensation. Using Human Centered Design principles to achieve this work we were able to enhance patient experience, improved access and activation of education delivery as well as reduced cost to the organization. I am passionate about transformational change in healthcare in efforts to improve the quality and safety of care provided to our patients every day. In 2018 I completed my Doctorate in Nursing Practice with an emphasis in Healthcare Quality escalating my professional momentum as an advocate and change agent for patient care, nursing practice, and healthcare redesign. Achieving this through influencing healthcare policy, finance, and regulatory environments that shape organizational, local, national, and global issues of equity, access, affordability, and social justice. My current professional activities involve health care redesign, opioid and pain management stewardship, clinical quality outcomes, patient education, and integration of technology in health care.
