Cristina Teixeira, DMD, MS, PhDDr. Cristina Teixeira is Chair and Associate Professor in the Department of Orthodontics at New York University College of Dentistry. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where she obtained her Dental Medicine Doctor’s Degree, a Masters Degree in Oral Biology, certificate in Orthodontics, and a Ph.D. in Developmental Biology. Dr. Teixeira is a world-renowned expert in bone growth and tooth movement. She is regularly invited to speak at national and international conferences and universities around the world. Her research has been supported by different foundations and by grants from the National Institute of Health. Her approach for early interceptive orthodontic treatment takes advantage of the child growth and modifies it to correct jaw position and size, and allow permanent teeth to erupt well-aligned. This approach, inspired by Dr. Teixeira’s research, avoids tooth extractions and the need for braces in the majority of cases.Mani Alikhani, DMD, MS, PhDDr. Mani Alikhani is an Associate Professor at the Department of Orthodontics at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He obtained his Dental Medicine Doctor’s Degree from Tufts University, a certificate in Orthodontics from New York University, and a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from State University of NY at Stony Brook. He is the founder and director of the Consortium for Translational Orthodontic Research, a private center dedicated to advancement of Orthodontics. His research, funded by national and international foundations, focuses on skeletal formation, tooth movement, bone response to mechanical stimulation and smart orthodontic appliances for which he holds several patents. Dr. Alikhani specializes in complex orthodontic treatment for teens and adults. His focus is to treat severe jaw and dental deformities in patients who are seeking non-surgical treatment options, using the latest orthodontic tools such as anchorage devices and MOPs.
