Community development has always played a prominent role in my life. I am passionate about helping people and the community while advocating for diversity, equity, and inclusion within marginalized populations. With 20+ years of experience as a Human Resources Leader, I have a dynamic and diverse background focused on improving health and wellness across Federal and Provincial government teams. For the past year, I have taken a leave of absence from my government job to act as the President of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, focusing on Humanitarian Aid during Covid-19 and Community Development as they flee the war and we welcome them into our country. I have been known for bringing challenging topics to the forefront in a constructive way while engaging appropriate partners to achieve the most effective results. While at the Ukrainian Canadian Congress, I have facilitated its growth from one to nine employees. I draw from my background in Human Resources to ensure that each employee is vetted appropriately and equipped to do their job in a timely manner. I bring my thought leadership and strategic planning together with my community development to drive program initiatives province-wide.As a trusted leader, I have been tasked with facilitating several Government Official meetings, most recently meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland and Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal for the purpose of discussing next steps forward with Ukraine and impacts of Ukrainians settling in Canada. I have also been invited to deliver presentations at the University of Alberta, Kyiv Konnection Banquet, and the Ukrainian Migration to Canada National Conference. My goal is to continue to serve our province’s Ukrainian immigrants and focus the rest of my career on building community and promoting physical and mental wellness.
