Omar Salah is Executive Vice President and National Director of Small Business Banking at Comerica Bank, as well as a member of its Retail Bank Operating Committee and Senior Leadership Team. Selected in 2022 to lead a transformative, multi-year initiative, Salah was tasked with reimagining Comerica’s small and medium enterprise strategy and building a nationwide small business banking platform. With full P&L responsibility, he oversees a team delivering financial solutions to privately-held businesses, while driving growth across Comerica’s footprint. Salah also leads strategic efforts in product development, digital innovation, credit, risk, and operational management.During his tenure at Comerica, Salah has played a pivotal role in developing and launching several groundbreaking initiatives including the company’s first digital loan program, Zelle for Small Business, and award-winning treasury packages. He championed innovative programs like SizeUp by Comerica, Comerica SmallBizCo-op®, and Comerica CoWorkSpaces™, which provide small businesses with market intelligence and resources, helping the bank achieve an Outstanding CRA rating in 2023.Previously, Salah served as Managing Director and Head of Small Business Banking at MUFG Union Bank, overseeing the P&L, $10 billion in deposits, $1 billion in loans, and 200k customers. He spearheaded the creation of the new Small Business Banking organization, introducing small business banker and virtual relationship manager channels, automated lending up to $500k, and centralized treasury services. He also led the bank's PPP rollout, supporting 15k businesses with $3 billion in loans. Salah’s career began in 2001 at MUFG through its management training program, advancing to leadership roles in business banking, payments, and credit.A recognized industry leader, Salah is a frequent speaker on small business, diversity, and professional development. As an advocate for inclusion, he serves as Executive Sponsor for Comerica's Middle Eastern ERG, previously chaired MUFG’s Diversity and Inclusion Council, and also sponsored its Latino ERG.Salah holds a doctorate from USC, where his applied research in human performance improvement informs his leadership. He also earned an MBA from UC Irvine and a bachelor's degree from CSU San Marcos. Committed to education and community service, Salah serves on the board of Junior Achievement of San Diego County and previously on the UC Irvine Paul Merage School of Business Leadership Council. Salah is a San Diego native where he resides with his wife and two sons.
