The purpose of this thesis is to develop a model for optimal liquidity management together with Saab AB. The purpose was answered by developing an optimization model that maximizes the utility, given the requirements Saab has. The model is a stochastic optimization model that uses Monte Carlo simulation and stochastic processes to make optimal decisions. As this model is concerned with interest rate instruments an important part has been to develop an appropriate model to estimate interest rate curves. Future cash flows are taken into consideration which give rise to a liquidity management problem. The model succeeds in finding an optimal solution maximizing the benefits of investments while maintaining payment readiness. The analysis shows that the methods used to obtain the optimal solution are consistent with market conditions as well as company requirements. The conclusion is that the solution obtained from the optimization problem is an optimal solution to the liquidity management problem.
