Leadership and direction in the solution and engineering development phases of Production Systems Technology projects and to Business Led projects for Minerals Americas Assets and involved in the development of designs and Business Cases for these projects. Lead the development of studies for Technology Projects and secure investment approvals to enable delivery of these projects; Lead multiple teams and their input into a portfolio of studies, applying market proven technologies and when applicable new technologies in coordination with strategy, innovation and planning areas. These studies also include those being undertaken by asset project groups and/or those classified as major projects where these studies include technology scope;

- CodelcoTech is the Codelco´s Technology Subsidiary called to develop and implement Technology Innovations to resolve company main challenges and in order to contribute with company sustainability. - Articulate innovation ecosystem in order to deliver technology solutions which can solve in the short, mid and long term company challenges defining a balance project portfolio, its business cases and business models.- To manage the relationship with the technology suppliers, research and development centers, universities, others.

- To identify technology challenges in the mining process and propose conceptual, experimental or industrial validation projects in order to be incorporated in Codelco Operations and which can support company business plan.- Responsible to design, implement and manage the Technologies Project Portfolio in the area of mining and metallurgical process, safety, sustainability, automation, big data management, etc. and which can represent a Strategic advantage for the company. - To coordinate multidisciplinary Technology Project teams with the objective to accomplish with project budgets, timing, deliverables and risk and change management.- To define technical bases to establish technologies contracts and alliances with equipment providers, suppliers, innovation and research centers and controlling the contracts executions.- To promote and develop a network with worldwide companies in the area of mining – metallurgical innovation and technology.- To propose principal terms for the company associations associated with the strategic projects (control, risk, resources, options, timing, etc.) and the framework that regulate the association.

- To follow up the worldwide mining exploration activities in order to propose new ventures opportunities for the company as in Brownfield as in Greenfield areas and aligned with Business company Plan.- To identify and propose new business models with third party and where synergies can be found to maximize the current facilities capacities and field’s production forecast. - To establish and develop relationship with worldwide mining companies. - To develop and maximize exploration company portfolio.- To negotiate all type of association contracts regarding with Greenfield exploration opportunities.- To lead and coordinate multidisciplinary project teams during business studies.- To representing company interest in front of the company subsidiaries, government organizations, communities and the stakeholders.

- To lead the company in the exploration and evaluation of copper resources in greenfield and in brownfield areas. To maximize Coldelco's value through exploration.- To manage an optimum explorations fields portfolio.- To be recognized for a safe and sustainable operation in Chile and in our internationals partnership.

- To review and approve all the technical aspects related with Production Operation (Reservoir, Production, Facilities, Operation, Maintenance, Reliability and Integrity).- To consolidate and validate company work programs, investments and operative cost,preparing Budgets and initiatives optimizations.- To review periodically company oil and gas reserves and lead its certification process.- To assurance that all the Operation process follows the company and policies standards.- To manage Operational Integrity Management System implementation in the company.- To support company searching new business opportunities.- To manage Production Operation staff in the company, evaluating assets needs,competences, and gaps and defining training plan.

- Provide advice to management in the development and execution of upstream strategy and provide leadership in the development of overall upstream strategy.- To carry out exploration and production technical and economical studies on the Methanex concessions in order to maximize gas supply for the methanol plants. - To plan and follow up all the concessions activities, representing company interest in all the Joint Ventures companies. To attend to TCM and OCM meetings.- To participate in the negotiation of gas supply and transportation contracts, analyzing the most technical and economical alternatives. - To participate in the negotiation of exploration and production contracts, controlling its implementation and reporting about its progress to the company management.

Responsible for all the Engineering and Production Operation activities in Argentina, Chile, Ecuador and Egypt assets. Moreover he is involved in all the studies and analysis in new ventures in different countries in South America, North Africa and Middle East.

The North Bahariya Concession started producing on 1st September 2004, settling the Joint Venture (Norpetco) between the consortium and the EGPC (Egyptian Petroleum Company) for its operation. Mr. Castaneda was appointed as Operation Manager by the consortium. The responsibility is to define field development plan, implement it, follow up and control the field operation, its investment and operative cost. Approve expenditures and interact with the consortium companies in any technical matter and trough Technical committee meetings. Participate in tenders and services contracts.
