Profile bio

About Oscar Williams, Phd

Highly adaptable and looking to pivot into the venture ecosystem to drive high-impact solutions. 8 years of energy expertise, with a thorough understanding of climate science and a well-developed technical literacy suited to deep tech applications. Skillset spanning policy, data analysis, research, comms and marketing across both public and private sectors. My core values are curiosity, growth and inclusivity. Recently, I celebrated my two-year anniversary free from cancer, a journey that widened my perspective, strengthened my grit and resilience, and reaffirmed my passion to help others.CAREER NARRATIVEMy PhD research and training established a solid analytical and scientific foundation that I've built on ever since. I developed a good grasp of AI and its applications through upskilling Unilever R&D staff with edtech start-up Decoded, where I also helped promote a culture of growth. My learnings helped me found SciPEN, a network of science and policy professionals at UCL. I further developed my understanding of market economics, product development and commercialisation by acting as growth partner for a variety of early-stage ventures. I designed and implemented low carbon heating policies across the UK at BEIS and coordinated industry stakeholders to plan out hydrogen deployment. I volunteered during Covid-19 and worked across government to disseminate technical guidance. This gave me a practical understanding of the machinations of government and its interfaces with science, politics and the public. I then transitioned to the private sector to help an energy arbitrage scale-up establish a new market presence as a clean tech AI-driven SaaS platform, with a view to IPO. I rewrote their strategic narrative and built positive brand sentiment, helping them expand beyond commodity arbitrage trading, while working closely with C-suite operators.I have a passion for scientific communication, and I currently work as a journalist and a part-time technology consultant, mapping deep tech markets and solutions. I am building out my business skills, a recognised opportunity for growth, by taking a part-time mini-MBA course, Newton Venture Program, with a 90% scholarship.

Listed skills include Team Leadership, Technical Recruiting, Business Development, Oil And Gas Industry, and 39 others.
