After completing his degree, Oscar embarked on a mission to make a meaningful impact on the lives of Boston residents. He began his career by working as an aide to the City of Boston District 9 City Councilor. In this role, he gained firsthand experience in understanding the challenges and needs of his community, which further fueled his dedication to public service.Oscar's journey took a pivotal turn when he joined the Massachusetts League of Community Health Centers. Here, he worked tirelessly to advocate for accessible and quality healthcare services for all. His role allowed him to collaborate with healthcare professionals, community leaders, and policymakers to address the pressing health issues facing the Commonwealth.Today, Oscar continues his unwavering commitment to public health as the Communications Coordinator for the Division of Violence and Injury Prevention (DVIP) at the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. In this critical role, he plays a key part in raising awareness about violence prevention, injury reduction, and community safety.Oscar's daily work revolves around communication strategies that inform the public about the importance of safety, while also promoting policies and programs aimed at reducing violence and injuries in communities across Massachusetts.
