Responsible in creating work orders and provides estimated completion dates to clients. Also does validations of manuals provided by the clients, creates requests for additional manual pages and information. Responsible in programming home and auto insurance rates and premiums. Programming schedule could either be a rate change for an existing client or adding of new rates for new clients. In rate changes, modifications are made on existing programs in accordance with the client’s requests. For new clients, programs are created from scratch as requested by clients in accordance with their manual. The programming language used is called Quadrant Data Language (QDL). QDL is a second generation programming language made out of C and C++. It is used in a development tool called Rate Editor. QDL is a language custom built for Quadrant use and is structured to fit the calculations and conditional scenarios of an insurance company.

Responsible in testing home and auto insurance rates and premiums as developed by rate programmers and in accordance with the client’s manual. Testing is more oriented in defect detection. It is done using Ad hoc testing wherein a tester tries to break the system by randomly trying the system’s functionality. This involves negative testing as well.
