I was born in Mexico City and migrated with my family to Kansas City in the early 2000’s. I’ve lived in Kansas City most of my life and it’s now where I call home. My migrant parents prepared me as best as they could for life in a new country. First, they let me know that I will come in with a disadvantage and face a lot of challenges. I will have to work harder just to catch up. Second, that we might not always have resources for the things I want or need so I must be resourceful. Third, that no matter what happens I must always move forward (hay que seguir adelante). Finally, my mother being a strong woman of faith, hay que ser humilde (you must always be humble).I didn’t see it then, but these lessons taught me valuable skills to succeed in the roles I take. Having a strong work ethic is a must, you can’t get anywhere without hard work and perseverance. Being resourceful lead me to learning how to be creative in problem solving to the point where now I love to talk about ideas for ideas sake. Third is that problems, obstacles, and difficulties will always arise, and I must prepare for them but also learn not to get stuck and push through. And finally, I find joy and happiness in being able to serve others with my talents and resources. Its important to me that I help those whose paths I cross whenever I can.I currently find myself in a role where I help people see the potential within themselves, help them communicate it effectively, and serve as a resource for a very important moment in people’s lives. Finding a career. The effects of employment trickle down to the whole community and I take pride in doing my best to guide others through the process.In my free time, I am a passionate soccer fan.
