Oscar Wendel is the Founder and Chairman of Global Stratalogues, a think tank dedicated to fostering collaboration among industry leaders, governments, and academia. Global Stratalogues leverages interdisciplinary expertise to advance design and technology, enhance human potential, and improve accessibility in urban and digital environments. Over the past 18 years, Oscar has worked with conferences, business publishing, public relations, construction, and safety design.After moving from London and the Financial Times where he was Senior Content Manager of Global Events, Oscar has been based in Dubai since 2008. He has played a vital role in advancing critical conversations and standards in the region. That same year, he organized the GCC Leadership Summit on Worker Rights under the patronage of the UAE Ministry of Labour, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) and Human Rights Watch, to address the treatment of workers. This landmark event reflected Oscar’s commitment to fostering meaningful dialogue on human rights and labor practices.Oscar began his career in the Middle East with Construction Week Magazine, quickly immersing himself in the region’s construction and safety industries. His foundational expertise in fire safety was developed during his military service with the Swedish Rescue Services Agency, where he gained practical experience in emergency response and fire safety protocols. This experience proved instrumental when Oscar led the Safety Design in Buildings campaign, raising fire safety and protection standards across the Gulf through close collaboration with Civil Defense organizations. His contributions to safety design also extended to major collaborations with industry leaders such as Trimble and Drake & Scull. In 2024, Oscar launched the non-profit organization Global Stratalogues, expanding on his work and creating platforms that bridge sectors and perspectives. His mission is to enable actionable dialogue on the most pressing challenges of the modern era, from emerging technologies to urban sustainability, inspiring innovative solutions that push boundaries and elevate human potential in both the physical and digital realms.
