I started my career as a video game developer in a small startup CraftPath Software. I created 3D graphical engine, special effects and physics engine, sound engine, cut scenes and game logic engines. It was a fantastic time, and an extreme challenge as computers were weak, the 3D tech was young, it was a zoo of video and sound cards, and a lot of data processing had to be done within 20 ms to ensure smooth frame rate. Our game End Of Twilight, which I’m proud of, turned profitable.Shortly after EOT has been released, I switched to the enterprise software industry, joining another startup Applied Intelligence Solutions. I started as a Lead Software Developer and quickly took full responsibility of a Moscow development office, effectively serving as a Director of R&D. I wore many hats. First and foremost, I was a key contributor and a technical leader for my development team. Secondly, I was in charge of every aspect of running an independent software company: contracts negotiations, hunting & hiring best people, finding and securing office space and supplies, ensuring accurate accounting, dealing with authorities.We focused on intelligent software solutions for the retail industry. In 2005, our optimization product, AllocationXpert, won three prestige vendor awards from Sears – one of the largest US retailers. In 2011 we sold our startup to DemandTec, which was acquired by IBM. During this chain of acquisitions, I managed to retain an entire development team, and I ensured their successful transition to IBM Moscow Lab as FTE.I served IBM in a contractor status until 2013, and in Dec 2013, I joined IBM as FTE and moved to the US. Since 2013 I helped many teams in IBM and contributed to many projects. I was the first who introduced and advocated Spark in WCE. I created Dynamic Pricing product which was recently acquired by Acoustic. I helped DemandTec to reduce data acquisition time from half a year to a few weeks.
