At Simpson Grierson I acted on a broad range of matters relating to local government, resource management, and environmental law, and appeared in the District Court, Environment Court, High Court and Court of Appeal in relation to environmental prosecution, plan appeals, and judicial review. I was primarily part of a local government and environment practice, but worked with teams across the firm, most notably the employment and public law teams.

I helped run the NZALA, a charitable coalition of several hundred lawyers and law students working to improve the welfare and lives of animals through the legal system. In this role I contributed to the updating and administering of the YLC's Alcohol, Drug and Safety Policy. At the Ministry of Justice I dealt with the filing of a large backlog of documents relating to treaty settlements, and then maintained the filing system. I also assisted with making material available within the Ministry, for other agencies, and in response to Official Information Act requests. I later collated and profiled data from surveys of jurors. I provided proactive assistance, and handled a range of important documents with upmost integrity and confidentiality.
