As team lead at this fintech startup, I helped with recruitment and organisation to form a team of five developers. I put in place a lot of development processes such code reviews, automatic code linting, unit and integration testing, continuous integration and the mindset to always be able to deploy. I also introduced agile methodologies, which helped the team become more focused and deliver on expectations, and establish clear boundaries between the team and our product owner.As senior developer, I was responsible for the design and architecture of a complete system rewrite. We used C#, Entity Framework and SQL server in the backend, and Javascript, React and Redux in the frontend apps. The architecture consisted of layers with clear responsibilities and were connected through interfaces and dependency injection. This made sure each layer was testable and replaceable if necessary. Where possible, we targeted .NET Standard and put in place a strategy to migrate the legacy parts to allow for the whole system to be deployed with .NET Core.This architecture and tech stack, together with our development processes, helped us evolve and iterate on our product faster - while at the same time keep tech debt low and maintainable.I also lead a project to integrate our product with BankID (Swedish electronic identification) which greatly simplified our users' registration process.

As developer in the core team of RayCare (a next generation oncology information system), I was tasked to build the framework and platform of our distributed micro-services architecture. We used C#, CQRS, event sourcing and messaging (RabbitMQ) to develop a .NET platform on which our OIS could be built by six other development teams. In addition to technical experience in code design and architecture, I learned about the importance of communication and clean code in large software projects.As the project grew, I took a special interest in continuously improving and speeding up our build system by parallelizing builds and keeping project coupling to a minimum. During this period we transitioned from a multirepo to monorepo git setup, and I gained many insights into the pros and cons of both code repository setups.I also assisted in the technical interview of the recruitment process for backend developers.

Working as software developer in a cross-functional team with responsibility for several modules in RayStation, an advanced treatment planning system. We maintained and improved existing modules, as well as developed a completely new module for automated breast cancer planning.The product was built in C# and C++ using WPF, OpenGL and .NET. The platform was highly influenced by domain-driven design and had a separated domain state to help mitigating medtech risks. The presentation layer used the MVVM design pattern to separate WPF view logic from business logic which made the layers easier to maintain, improve and test.I put a lot of effort into improving the quality of the shared unit test framework, with the overall goal of making all 10,000+ tests more isolated to allow more parallelization and therefore shorten the development feedback loop.

I worked in the whole tech stack but with a focus on backend, and this is where my love for C# started to grow.The projects were typically internal business systems, and were often mission critical. This required me to collaborate closely with customers to understand what was needed and to translate this into requirements, code, and working, deliverable software.

I wrote my master thesis at Enea, a software company specializing in real-time operating systems for the telecom industry. My thesis title was "Resource Monitoring in a Distributed Self-Managing Middleware" and it was carried out as part of the EU-financed DySCAS project.The thesis included both an academic study around the concept of self-testing software as well a proof-of-concept written in C based on the distributed message-based middleware platform developed in DySCAS. The PoC measured resource utilization, such as CPU and memory, in a Linux system and took an informed decision whether to reschedule itself on another node based on the global resource utilization.

As a continuation on my work previous summer at this company, I ported and optimized an image library to run on an actual PlayStation 3.The library was an internal C++ image manipulation library used by the company in their products and by porting it to the PS3 platform we could investigate possibilities to use the advanced CPU architecture for high-performance image manipulation. When the port was completed, I optimized some functions in the library to fully utilize the parallel CPU capabilities of the platform and performed benchmarking for comparison.

The purpose of this summer internship was to examine and explore possible uses of the upcoming Cell Broadband Engine Architecture by Intel which, among other things, was to be used in PlayStation 3.In addition to a literature study on this architecture, I installed and configured the SDK on local Linux systems to allow simulation of the upcoming CPU. The internship was concluded with a presentation for the department to share knowledge and to suggest how to move forward.
