Mike is a leader with more than 30 years of experience in the K-12 profession. His K-12 experiences range from the classroom to district, county and state association leadership along with several combined years of leadership at Illuminate Education and ParentSquare. Mike's primary focus has been forming strategic partnerships that are designed to fuel new sales, grow overall market share, and anchor clients in the solutions provided. In his first year at ParentSquare, Mike led the negotiation of three new and two renewed student information system (SIS) partnerships that established a path for expanded opportunities for the partners, increased profit margins for ParentSquare, and improved customer experience. In addition, he led the IMO project management efforts of the acquisition of Gabbart Communications and also Remind. As a result of the collective efforts of all involved, ParentSquare brought forward new product and features in an unprecedented few months after each acquisition. While at Illuminate, Mike was given the charge to improve the struggling partnership with then partner, FastBridge. Through his collaborative leadership style, Mike brought together key leaders from business units at both companies to identify and resolve the challenges. The result was an improved user experience, increased sales, and ultimately the acquisition of FastBridge into the Illuminate portfolio. Over the years, Mike also has experience in dozens of partnerships ranging from social emotional learning resources, thought leaders such as ASCD, resellers of Illuminate's item banks (content), data interoperability with Ed-Fi and IMS Global, and cloud hosting with Google and Amazon. He began his career as a teacher (8 years) and then became a district technology administrator (4 years) where he encouraged the use of technology by teachers, administrators and of course, students. The highlight of his K-12 career was his 14 years at a county office as the Assistant Superintendent for Regional Technology and Data Services. There he established a vision for educational technology services that were provided to 20 school districts in three counties. He and the dynamic team he assembled provided services that ranged from behind the scenes infrastructure to informational data systems to instructional resources (online and classroom). In addition, Mike provided significant dedication and vision for two of Michigan's largest associations (REMC and MACUL) where he also served as president during his tenure on each respective Board of Directors.
