A 1.8 billion dollar project within the Durrat Al-Bahrain Mega project it is a joint venture between Al-Khaleej Real-Estate Company "Tameer" (60%) and Durrat Khaleej Al-Bahrain (40%). In my capacity as the CIO I am to kick start the project and take it successfully from the concept stage to the development stage and to sell the project to 3rd tear developers and end buyers for some elements of the project. In order to do so I am required to manage the company and to do the financial engineering and supervise the development of the financial model to achieve the optimum mix of equity and leverage to ensure maximum profits for the shareholders while maintaining the quality of the project.

In that capacity I was responsible for managing the financing requirements of AAJHC. This included supervising relationships with financiers and obtaining lines from banks. My primary achievement was negotiating the structure of the US$ 925 million Eurobond on behalf of the owners for the construction of Phase I of the Blue City project which is a 32 square kilometer development in the Sultanate of Oman of which AAJHC is 70% shareholder. The Eurobond was arranged by Bear Stearns, Standard Chartered Bank and Credit Suisse. It is worth mentioning that the Bond was successfully closed and fully subscribed to in November, 2006. In addition, I am a blue city phase one board member "till date".

SBB is amongst the first Islamic banks in the world previously operating with the name Faysal Islamic Bank. In SBB, my main responsibilities involved maintaining and serving the commercial banking requirements of clients in addition to introducing and managing relationships with the clients. During my tenor at SBB, I managed to build a quality debt portfolio of US$ 53 million from new clients. My debt portfolio included both trade finance and project finance facilities. All such facilities were structured in accordance to Islamic Sharia'a. My clients comprised local and regional family owned conglomerates, high net worth individuals and royal family members

What is now considered the largest commercial bank in Bahrain, AUB was aggressive in acquiring market share in both the assets and the liability side. My duties included managing a US$ 70 million debt portfolio and booking new assets to the Bank. Within one year, I was successful in increasing the portfolio by 25% to reach US$ 95 million. I was also involved in marketing investment banking products and managed to procure investment funds from existing and new clients.

My first time to work in corporate banking, I was amongst a team responsible for managing the Government and Middle Size Market. From a loan portfolio of US$ 26 million, I managed to double the size by introducing new clients and increasing quality limits to existing clients.

During my working period in the Treasury Operations department of NBB I was able to gain a good experience in the processing of various Treasury Instruments such as Forex, Derivatives and Security products. I was exposed to a number of securities (Bonds, Equities, Tbills, FRN's, etc.) and Derivatives (FRA's, IRS's, Options, Futures, etc.).
