My name is Oton, a law student at Berkeley Law, I graduated with honors in the Sociology Department at UC Berkeley.I was the co-chair of Progressives at Cal (a political party for the ASUC) and the chief of staff of Senator Doty’s Office. I was also the co-chair of Philanthropy for the Latine Pre-Law society providing fellow Latine students internship opportunities and mentoring programs!Over the summer, I was interning at the Alternate Defender's Office of the city of Santa Clara (the alternate form of the public defender's office) working with lawyers, paralegals, social workers, and other interns to provide representation for clients, informing clients of their cases, and write reports, briefs, etc. Previously, I was in the ASUC through a Housing Advocacy Department at a senator's office. I was also a chair for the Berkeley Undergraduate Sociology Alliance, organizing events to connect sociology students on campus with one another! I have done some work in a political advocacy group, primarily focusing on coalition building and maintaining connections with different campus organizations. I have also done work with the Latinx community through LPLS (Latine Pre-law Society) enabling students of Latinx backgrounds to achieve their goals in pursuing a law career by providing several pre-law events as well.
