About Otto Thorsen
I have often said that I’ve gotten my MFA in college and my MBA on the job. 10+ years in a worker-owner cooperative working side by side with passionate, dedicated founders creates that kind of opportunity. I’ve had many roles through the years and have supervised, hired, (unfortunately) fired, scheduled, trained and supported many individuals through the years. My primary focus for the last 5 years or so has been facilities management. I’m continuously amazed by how challenging and rewarding this work can be. I’m a natural born problem solver that does what it takes to get the job done. I’ve overseen parking lot repaving, toilet room installation, earthquake retrofitting, lots of plumbing and electrical work completed, including sourcing, scheduling, inspecting the work and handling the contracts and when needed permits. Sometimes under extremely stressful and time sensitive conditions. I’ve been a prime equipment buyer and a pro-active problem solver. I’m obsessed with systems improvement and increasing efficiency and quality of life. (Those two concepts do not have exist independently) I have a creative eye but an old school work ethic that motivates me to do what must be done to get the job done or to keep us moving forward. I would venture to say that colleagues would peg me as determined and serious but approachable and supportive in the workplace. I strive to help keep the company moving forward and to serve the mission to the fullest of my capacity. If company has a true and solid mission I’m all in.
