Colleagues describe him as "Andrew is a refreshingly humble and progressive leader who advised and assisted in developing our social entrepreneurship leadership program. Andrew brought the power of human-centered design, analytics, storytelling and lean startup methods to a group of passionate non-profit executives to help develop their bold visions for the future of Milwaukee. His insightful and personalized coaching helped each organization consider potential for new revenue streams and more importantly potential to help solve entrenched systemic problems by identifying, designing and creating new opportunities. Andrew’s perspective and personal experiences helped inform and elevate conversations around race and equity, which was valuable in many ways for the entire group. He also lifted-up experts within the group to lead sessions, which created a culture of “group-genius” where we were all learning from each other. Andrew is at the forefront of human centered design, technology and social enterprise and he understands how human stories and connections need to be at the core of everything we create and everything we do. I look forward to continuing to work with Andrew in the future. He has my highest recommendation. " and "Dr. Andrew Williams was the invited keynote speaker for our National Science Foundation - sponsored 2015 PROMISE Summer Success Institute. His presentation was superb! His talk was a combination of information-sharing and demonstration, showcasing "Rosie the Humanoid," a small robot that was programmed lead the crowd in yoga exercises. The talk was appealing to the audience at large, not just the computer scientists in the room. Dr. Williams was a compelling speaker because he showed the crowd that a person with a diverse background could achieve excellence in computer science, and be a stellar mentor. He spent time with the students before and after the talk, leaving a lasting impression on them, and negating the myth that STEM professors aren't personable. I highly recommend Dr. Williams to others who want a strong STEM role model for their students. We budgeted for his travel, lodging, and an honorarium, and it was well worth the investment! Our audience included graduate students, postdocs, faculty, and other career professionals ... all were inspired by his personal story, his commitment to science, and his willingness to motivate generations of scholars. "
