As a Battalion Chief I am responsible for the administration of a platoon consisting of five fire stations and an airport station, all emergency fire and EMS responses to a city of 116,288 including a major university and the overall safety of the citizens of Provo Utah.

As a Fire Captain I direct, develop and manage complex operations directly affecting the safety and security of community citizens. I perform planning activities and solicit citizen collaboration designed to prevent loss of life and maximize property conservation under a variety of conditions. I also participate in community coalitions and planning activities concerning zoning compliance and disaster planning. I provide input to formulate policy, training goals, emergency response parameters, and provide direction during both normal and stressful conditions. In addition I provide training to meet performance goals and objectives and insure compliance to local, state, and federal regulations. As a Captain I also directly manage personnel and address labor related issues.

I directed, developed, and managed programs designed to facilitate the overall well being and stability of the community and its citizenry. I developed and maintained forums for communication between local, state, and federal government agencies while functioning as a liaison between citizen groups, elected officials, city department directors, and employees. I participate in community development initiatives and promoted the city brand. I also developed, implemented and assessed comprehensive risk assessments, mutual aide agreements, contingency plans and compliance standards..

As an instructor I traveled to outlying groups such as volunteer fire departments around Utah. My area of instruction focused on Hazmat and Weapons of Mass Destruction.
