I served in the fire service for 41 years with progressive management responsibilities. During my career I served three years as Provo cities Emergency Manager. This position included accounting, planning, public relations, risk management, grant administration, project oversight, private/public interoperability, contingency planning, continuity of operations, training program compliance and other general management functions. I retired as a Battalion Chief with specialized education and training in advanced special operations including those with regards to homeland security. Along with my strong background in management and customer service I have a good working knowledge in other technical areas such as information technology, process / environmental engineering, and the construction trades. Battalion Chief
CurrentAs a Battalion Chief I am responsible for the administration of a platoon consisting of five fire stations and an airport station, all emergency fire and EMS responses to a city of 116,288 including a major university and the overall safety of the citizens of Provo Utah.

As a Fire Captain I direct, develop and manage complex operations directly affecting the safety and security of community citizens. I perform planning activities and solicit citizen collaboration designed to prevent loss of life and maximize property conservation under a variety of conditions. I also participate in community coalitions and planning activities concerning zoning compliance and disaster planning. I provide input to formulate policy, training goals, emergency response parameters, and provide direction during both normal and stressful conditions.
