• Complying with and to enforce the policies of the Company and its SMS requirements and to promulgate these policies and requirements.• Identification of the training needs of all personnel within my area of responsibility and to give advice to all concerned personnel regarding such training and the evaluation of its effectiveness.• Ensuring that all newly-hired or transferred personnel to the vessel are properly familiarised with all procedures and are made aware with and comply with onboard SMS requirements.• Advisor to and assistant to the Rig Superintendent in ensuring that safety meetings and tool-box talks are regularly carried out.• Assisting the Master as necessary in accident/incident investigations and completion of injury reports accordingly.• Supervising the correct implementation of the onboard permit to work system.• Ensuring that personnel are properly trained to understand and prepared to react to emergency situation onboard should they arise.• Management of all SMS documents and records under my responsibility;• Bringing to the attention of and to advise the Rig Superintendent and the Master in all matters relating to onboard safety deficiencies. • Ensuring that all the fire fighting, individual protection, survival and rescue equipment is ready for use is ‘in date’ and is in compliance with applicable rules and regulations.• In co-ordination with the Chief Officer advise the Master of drill requirements under SOLAS, to maintain drill records and to advise the Master regarding all safety training requirements identified onboard. • Assisting the Master as necessary in accident and incident investigations and completion of injury reports.• Supervising the correct implementation of the onboard permit to work system in all onboard areas outside the Drilling Department.• Assisting and advise the Rig Superintendent in the management of SMS non-conformities and incidents that occur within my areas of responsibility;
