Responsibilities include writing a minimum of six full-length editorials, and four shorter ones, per week about local, state and national issues. I edit all Opinion copy used in print and online. This includes syndicated columns, letters to the editor and op-ed articles. I also meet with politicians, civic leaders, policymakers and others to discuss issues important to them.

My primary duty was to write a minimum of five editorials per week. Eventually, I took on the job of selecting the daily editorial cartoon as well as the syndicated columns. As a member of the editorial board, I also met weekly with other board members to discuss current events, and met regularly with policymakers, civic leaders, etc., to discuss issues.

Responsibilities included covering major news events such as the Oklahoma City bombing, and editing other writers’ copy. As Oklahoma sports editor for 18 years, I covered all major sporting events in-state and assisted with AP’s coverage of several NCAA Final Fours and five Olympic Games.
