Leading project and service delivery for an IT Managed Services Provider

Deputising for the Group IT Director to Develop and manage the delivery of the Groups IT strategy including the IT workstream of a key business programme to launch a new B2C e-Commerce business:• Managed a diverse range of both internal and external resources. • Implemented PCI-DSS; SAQ-A and SAQ-C VT• Implemented a common group wide ISO27001 framework (Covering 7 separate legal entities, across 2 locations and approx 70+ staff)• Responsible for the service delivery of a primarily outsourced IT environment. • Managed projects to further outsource IT service provision as well as consolidate IT supply chain and contracts across all current and new subsidiaries.• Commercial management – reviewing, negotiating (new) and re-negotiating (existing), consolidating etc.. contracts both inside and outside of IT. With forecasted savings of Approx £200k (over 20%) over 3 years (delivered over a 6 month period)• M&A – due diligence, post acquisition integration, re-structuring, supplier and commercial review.• Managed multiple concurrent projects; O365, information and cyber security, IT standardisation, Office relocation, restructuring of the IT function to support the centralisation of core business functions.• Built all IT re-charging models to support the re-structuring of IT and resource provision.• Consulted on and supported the development of the new IT budget (CAPEX and OPEX) covering both BAU and projects\transformation\M&A\recruitment.• Line management of small teams.• Advised on recruitment and led on-boarding and training of new IT staff.

To lead, manage and co-ordinate a portfolio of diverse IT projects from initiation through to successful handover to BAU:Multiple projects reviewing current ways of working and implementing new technologies to improve performance and reduce costs.Migration of 8,500+ devices over to a new mobile tariff within a live fully operational environment.Implementation of new infrastructure and off the self software solution.The full re-provisioning of the entire IT infrastructure of a new refurbished building along with the relocation and merger of 4 separate locations totalling over 500 staff into the new building.

To lead and manage a portfolio of projects involving the implementation and successful delivery of both the underlying infrastructure and software platform to create a nationally available and resilient Lync service (initially 12,000 users) additional core data centre infrastructure and a new Citrix platform for a further 3 projects (2 national and 1 pilot), all hosted across NHS Wales Informatics Service national data centres across the full project life cycle, this involved:Managing multiple procurements totalling around £1.5 million.Managing a total budget in excess of £2 million capital and associated revenue costs in the region of £1 million over 5 years (profiling\modelling revenue costs), Across 4 cost centres, responsible for ensuring all spend is correctly apportioned and allocated in line with Welsh Government requirements and standards.Matrix management of a variety of both internal and external resource.Managing multiple concurrent projects and conflicting priorities.Management of multiple 3rd parties/suppliers, both on shore and off shore. Requirements gathering through to operational handover and acceptance.Technologies involved; Network and security (Cisco and Checkpoint), Citrix Netscalers (CAG and Load Balancing), F5 (Load balancing), Virtualisation (VMware and HyperV), Servers (Dell), Storage (Dell Compellent and HP 3PAR), Citrix 7.X, LyncShield (To provide secure mobile device access to Lync), Polycom (Integration between current video conferencing estate and Lync) as well as Mitel and Sonus (Integration between current telephony estate and Lync – Inbound only).

Accountable for the delivery of the IT separation and migration project, part of a business merger & acquisition, while maintaining full BAU provision. Managing a diverse range of internal and external resources.Projects included; HyperV virtual platform design and implementation (HP servers and switches, NetApp SAN), New resilient 2008 Domain and Exchange 2010 DAG, Domain migration from 2003 AD to 2008 AD (approx. 140 users), Email migration from Exchange 2003 to 2010 DAG (approx. 200 mailboxes), Data migration and consolidation, SAGE 200 accounts and payroll solution (including migration from Epicor), New Blackberry enterprise server solution and migration, New Voice over IP (Telephony) platform and system separation (Shortel), Data centre move, SharePoint 2013 implementation and migration from 2010, SQL server (2003 and 2008) migration and consolidation, Checkpoint firewall upgrade and migration (resilient stretched pair), physical to virtual and virtual to virtual (VMware to Hyper) migration, DMZ relocation, Remote desktop services design and implementation with web access, define and develop disaster recovery and business continuity plan, strategy, policies and procedures, DR and BCP delivery, consolidated hybrid CommVault backup solution (to disk and cloud) and migration from fragmented multi system 100% tape solution, new internet and DR P2P circuits, assimilation of all staff and IT services of a sister company as part of a site merger.Ran multiple concurrent tenders and contract negotiations with a total contract value of over £600k and delivering the above while reducing annual IT operational costs by around 35%. Other responsibilities included; Defining, developing and aligning the Businesses IT strategy. IT compliance with ISO27001. Managing all IT suppliers, invoices and POs. Compliance and documentation. Stakeholder management upto C suite level.

Accountable for planning and enabling the IT aspects relating to the migration of operating print sector business from 2 physical locations to 1 whilst maintaining concurrent full operational services and managing a variety of internal and external teams in a matrix environment totalling over 20 people. Requirements included a full LAN infrastructure refresh (structured cabling, network switches), WAN upgrade, ISO27001 compliance (CCTV installations, Access control requirements), VOIP deployment including end user training, CAM services to major print machines, desktop deployment of Windows 7 Office 2010, Timesheet upgrades, outsource of IT server provisions, datacentre move, asset management, re-use and disposals, successfully managed savings to reduce overall cost of the project with a total contract value of over £1.3m.

Responsible for providing full technical and administrative support for the entirety of the company’s IT estate. Support and manage a wide variety of technologies including Citrix secure gateway and presentation server 4.5, Blackberry enterprise server, Exchange 2003 and mail marshal, check point firewall and web marshal, VPN, windows server 2003/2008, Kbox and windows XP\7, Led various infrastructure development and deployment projects and provided consultation on the design and implementation of a new disaster recovery, high availability and business continuity plan.

Responsible for 1st, 2nd, 3rd line support and management of the whole school network. Administration of a wide variety of windows 2003\2008 servers, systems and hardware such as; Sophos enterprise manager and end clients, exchange 2007, IIS 7, ghost imaging suite. Project Managed all on going technical projects including the installation and configuration of a new windows 2008 server with Sophos enterprise console 5 and the deployment of Sophos endpoint security version 10.

Responsible 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support for the school network, supporting a mixture of physical and VMware virtual windows 2003\2008 servers. Setup, install and configure HP servers, various network hardware such as Smoothwall internet filter and Watchguard firewall.Project managed the setup, configuration and testing of the new Windows 7 image prior to deployment and assisted in the roll out of 250+ computers across campus.

Monitored, maintained and developed the internal IT infrastructure, ensuring all IT documentation, asset and audit registers are all up to date. Provided 2nd and 3rd line support, acting as an escalation point for the IT helpdesk team. Collaborated on and lead a variety of IT projects, including a multi-site PC deployment and license compliance.

Developed the client’s IT strategy, leading meetings and presentations with senior management and stakeholders. Provided 1st, 2nd and 3rd line support both remotely and onsite for clients networks, supporting all network infrastructure, servers and devices. Provided end user training both ad hoc and via arranged training sessions.

Supported, managed, maintained and developed multiple primary school networks of various sizes via on site visits as well as remotely and via phone\email. Provided guidance on IT strategy as well as end user training. Managed and executed a variety of projects concurrently across multiple different sites including full server migrations and upgrades from Windows Server 2003 to 2008. Managed the support delivered, ensuring that all SLAs, OLAs and KPIs were met.

Monitored all internal systems including databases, backups, feeds and both virtual and physical servers to ensure that all systems are functioning correctly as well as 1st level support for Unix systems, mainly Solaris 8, 9 and 10. 1st and 2nd line technical support to both internal users and clients. Project Managed a multi-disciplined team in the development of an n-tier application.

Working with clients to design and develop workflows within the case management system. Support and on-going maintenance for clients case management systems, as well as general IT support using various remote control technologies.

Main responsibilities included provision of desktop support to all FM covered computers and peripherals. Replace and install networked equipment and responsible for initial fault diagnosis and resolution. General systems administration and server support tasks. Coordinated and lead major PC refresh projects. Managed and supported the entire printing estate totalling over 300 printers and 4 servers. Project managed; A comprehensive printing rationalisation project. Development, testing and deployment of images using a wide variety of technologies, including: Novell Zenworks imaging, PowerQuest DriveImage, Landesk, Ghost and WDS. Delivered a new centre for student engagement this involved centralising the various student support services into one dedicated area. Introduced thin client technology into the HUB.
