Constructing board walks, stair cases, foot paths and bridges through protected bushland and national parks around Perth.Using power tools, lasers, and heavy machinery during these projects.Working with FRP material when constructing many structures (Fibre-Reinforced Plastic).Minimizing the amount of environmental damage caused to the native vegetation growing in these areas.

Monitoring and maintaining Wildlife areas in National and recreational parks around Perth City. Fire Fuel Load Reduction- removal of all dead material from the bush to help reduce the risk of fire.Identifying, spraying and hand weeding invasive species within the bush.Seed collection and nurturing of plants to be planted in the bush as part of our native bushland regeneration.Capturing and controlling populations of ferrel animals such as foxes and cats.

Working on a farm with over 2,000 sheep, 60 cattle and 7,000ha of cereal crop.Helped with herding and sheering the sheep before harvest.Operated tractor and roller.Operated a John Deere 770 Combine Harvester with a 40ft front for the harvest season.Helped out with fencing and any other maintenance on the farm.

• Internal audits on site. This involves reporting the condition of machines, health and safety standards, food hygiene standards, and overall cleanliness of the site.• Routine temperature checks on both areas and products.• Daily site hygiene and health and safety checks.• Ensuring all product codes, labels, printing and use by dates are correct before being exported from the factory.• Animal welfare and hygiene checks on each load of chickens entering the factory. This involves checking chickens for bruising which may have been caused by the catching team, as well as the cleanliness of the chickens.• Regularly testing metal detectors and weighing scales along the packing lines.• Ensuring all workers use the correct PPE and follow the safety and hygiene rules.• Ensuring that each product can be traced back to the farm that specific chicken came from (product traceability).

• Collecting grab samples of water from each stage of the water treatment plant.• Carrying out laboratory tests for the presence and strength of various elements such as Nitrogen, Phosphorus, Ammonium, Aluminium, Manganese, and COD (chemical oxygen demand). This involves using various laboratory equipment and machines, such as a COD reactor and a spectrophotometer.• Testing the water samples for the content of solids.• Inspecting the samples under the microscope for the presence of micro-life, generally looking out for rotifers and water bears.• Taking special samples now and again and packaging them to be sent to the EPA for external tests.• Weekly tests on surface water run-offs and samples from nearby streams.• Recording the conductivity, temperature and ph of various samples.• If results for any of the tests are out of spectrum, this must be reported and we must then investigate as to why this has happened and how we can fix it, for example if Ammonia levels are high, there may be a large discharge of blood from the factory getting into the wastewater somewhere.

• I worked in almost every area of production while working as a general operative, from the killing area to the main meat processing floor, to the packaging and pelleting area. I also worked in the Value-Added floor for 4 years, where flavoured powders and such are added to the chicken products.• I operated most machines on the floor, from the Reiser machines which seal plastic trays, to the Delford label machines along the conveyor belts.• I also worked for a few months on the box-weigh, where you have to memorise product codes and be aware of use-by dates for each product.• These 5 years’ experience gave me a great first-hand overview of how a large scale meat processing plant is operated.

Operating a tractor and chaser bin as part of an internationally sourced crew to harvest 26,000 hectares of Wheat in Uzbekistan, working with mostly Uzbek and Indian speaking co-workers.
