I joined Aurecon as a System Specialist within the Novo Rail Alliance. (Novo Rail is an alliance with RailCorp, Aurecon, O'Donnell Griffin and Laing ORourke).The position required me to be seconded to RailCorp to become a Technical Specialist in relation to their in-house rail control system, ATRICS.In this capacity I have worked on a number of projects including the Lidcombe to Lithgow Train Visibility System, Sulphide Junction system upgrade and the South West Rail Link.

Initially I was contracted to provide technical expertise for the TransAdelaide Train Control System which had been going for 2 years prior to my involvement. Initially I performed UAT for the Train Control Simulator. Following that I was coordinated the system documentation and user training.After the system was successfully commissioned, I accepted the position of Project Manager to run the maintenance and system upgrade project. I managed a small team of engineers and liaised with the client to provide system support, upgrade and troubleshooting.

I was involved in a number of projects during my time with GEC Alsthom. One of the key projects was the Sydney Harbour Tunnel control system. When this project was in the development and implementation phase, there was minimal third-party software systems that provided the functions required. Consequently this project required quite a large amount of innovative design. The project was on-time and within budget and was very successful for GEC Alsthom. It provided the basis for the company being the leading supplier of tunnel and road control systems in Australia.
