I received my Juris Doctor from Bond University in 2019 and successfully completed my Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice in 2020. I completed my compulsory professional legal training work term with Gatenby Criminal Lawyers (GCL) in 2020. With GCL, I appeared on behalf of clients in court for adjournments and surrenders, authored initial legal documents for solicitors, conducted legal research, and communicated and obtained relevant information from clients. My time at GCL helped me further refine my communication and organizational skills in order to effectively balance the client’s needs based upon the urgency of their matters and work with them to understand the options and outcome of their court related matters. During my work term, I had the opportunity to appear before the Supreme Court of Queensland. In April 2020, I returned to Canada due to COVID and have passed the NCA challenge exams so I may practice law in Canada. While studying I have been working part-time on the factory line at McCormick in London. I possess both a strong work motor and excellent organizational skills, which will translate to the legal profession. I think the aforementioned skills were refined during my graduate program work and via life experience. Specifically, during the 8 months I hiked the trails of Te Araroa, which is a 3,000km trail that spans both of New Zealand’s islands. This is because daily necessities such as food water and shelter/sleeping had to be planned well in advance to ensure a successful trip. Further, there were numerous occasions where my mental fortitude was seriously tested as a result of the weather, terrain, or my physical condition. Fortunately, I was able to overcome these trials and achieve my goal.
