The Economic Policy Unit advises the Taoiseach on economic policy aimed at a sustainable and resilient economy with a particular focus on jobs, productivity, competitiveness, labour market, enterprise, and skills issues. It maintains an overview of progress in key policy and sectoral areas in line with Government priorities. It supports the work of related Cabinet Committees and inter-departmental Senior Officials’ Groups. It coordinates Ireland’s National Reform Programme, which is produced and submitted to the European Commission each April as part of the European Semester process. The Unit also liaises closely with the Central Statistics Office (CSO) – the independent national body responsible for collating and publishing official statistics.

As part of my apprenticeship with Fife Council, I had the opportunity to work at Re-Employ in developing the new social enterprise helping to turn it into a fully functioning & sustainable business. Together with Irene Donaldson, I helped to launch the Re-Employ company as a brand on March 16th 2016.I coordinated all aspects of everyday business management, including processing timely orders, careful process mapping for people with various needs, legislative planning and actuarial analysis.Part of my remit also involved IT consultancy and administrative managerial duties for Re-Employ's product development.

As part of an apprenticeship in Fife Council's Culture of Enterprise programme, I worked with the Enterprise and Business Development in Fife Council to develop and deliver projects that help to create a vibrant enterprise culture in Fife. I've worked with our Culture of Enterprise Coordinator across several areas from education, through encouraging business start up, to building long term sustainable businesses with enterprising employees.My remit would also entail partaking in all aspects of Fife Council's economic planning and development on a day-to-day basis. Whilst part of this team I was able to gain a wide range of experience in enterprise management, market development and supplier development programmes.On the 25th November 2015 I successfully completed my Diploma in Enterprising Skills in a Business Environment, a qualification I took whilst in my apprenticeship - becoming one of the first in Scotland to do so.

Working on various projects involving the restoration, promotion and funding of the Silverburn Project, creating leaflets, presentations and advertising FEAT's main services including the Journey to Work programme, Employ your Mind, Mind your Mind, and more.I assisted psychologists and facilitators to deliver each programme as effectively as possible, managed the reception area, represented FEAT at events and collated information for the General Manager and the team.
