Zaelot acquired Axon Consulting in February 2023. After joining the Zaelot team, I spent two months learning everything I could about the organization and meeting with the entire leadership team multiple times before stepping into the role of Interim CEO in April. As Interim CEO, I led Zaelot's modernization and scaling efforts and eliminated the organization's debt while doubling year-over-year revenue, all in preparation for M&A.I led the due diligence team as we prepared to merge with Gangverk ehf., and served as primary point of contact for both sides throughout the process. Following the successful conclusion of the merger in mid-2023, I stayed on for a couple of months to complete the transition and hand off operational control to Iceland before gracefully exiting.

Axon helped established organizations escape from dependency on legacy systems by implementing digital transformations that fulfill mission-critical needs while remaining scalable, stable, and secure.As CEO, I led the organization in both strategic and tactical ways to achieve our goals, delight our clients, and inspire our people. I navigated multiple existential crises that threatened to destroy the business with minimal loss of revenue and personnel. At the same time, I pursued and negotiated an acquisition of the company by Zaelot Inc. for an above-market valuation. I successfully managed the entire M&A process from due diligence through paperwork through integration while continuing successful business operations.

Axon began to scale in mid-2021, and I went full-time after leaving the airlines. As COO, I helped Axon prepare to grow by managing Operations, IT, Legal, HR, and culture. I built the majority of Axon's core systems, and directly oversaw our growth from 1 person to almost 10 in just a few months. I gained valuable experience touching every single aspect of the business, preparing me well to step into the CEO role in mid-2022.

As I progressed through my aviation career, I spent my spare time preparing the foundation of a software consultancy and getting it ready to launch. It took almost four years, but in mid-2021 we were finally ready, with the critical people, systems, processes, and clients in place to properly give it a go. I resigned from my job as an airline pilot and went to work at Axon full-time.

After several years building up my experience as a pilot, I joined Republic to legitimize my experience with an ATP certificate and real-world 121 operational flying. At the same time, I used the enhanced flexibility offered by an airline schedule to accelerate preparations to launch my own software consulting agency.The pandemic struck while I was still in training, and over the next few months in quarantine I devoted most of my time to learning as much as I could about both technology and business. When I started flying again near the end of 2020, I built up enough cash reserves so that we would be ready to launch Axon in mid-2021.My time at the airline gave my valuable experience in large-scale operations, high-pressure decision-making, coordination and communication, and complex system operations. It also validated my ability to show up on time and ensure the job gets done no matter what the circumstances.

Using skills gained from both Goode Aerial and Sandhills, I began working as a contract delivery pilot and sales representative for the largest Cessna aircraft dealer in the world - Van Bortel. Due to my maintenance degree and background, my primary responsibility was to manage the acquisition of new aircraft by VBA. The sales team would identify a probable target in some remote area of North America, and I'd manage all travel to get myself out to go take a look at the plane, inspect it, and eventually (usually) purchase it in cooperation with the sales team. From there, it was my responsibility to get the newly acquired aircraft home, operating completely solo and with minimal support. I'd brave bad weather, mechanical problems, and generally weird circumstances, but I always made it home to close the sale.I learned a ton about high-pressure/high-end sales and survived multiple in-flight emergencies that honed my ability to stay cool under pressure and keep flying the plane, no matter what happens.

To kickstart both my aviation and business careers, I started a small aviation contracting and consulting agency. I flew both drones and manned aircraft across the US, providing aerial photography and mapping services, aircraft repositioning and ferry services, and general aviation consulting. I learned the basics of company operations, including finance, legal, HR, operations, and sales.The technical and managerial skill gained here directly contributed to my first jobs in aviation and later success at Axon and beyond.

In my first job flying manned airplanes, I worked for an aerial photogrammetry provider and flew small aircraft all over the United States. Even with poor working conditions and consistent safety and mechanical issues, I remained one of the top-performing pilots at the company, which led to a position as team lead within a couple months of starting the job.As team lead, I was responsible for ensuring the entire pilot group submitted their daily reports on time and accurately, and I developed, implemented, and maintained a significant upgrade to the company's reporting systems.I was offered a position as chief pilot before I left, but I declined due to systemic organizational issues that I did not believe I had the ability to overcome. Sure enough, the company went under a couple years later.At Sandhills, I learned how to operate independently without support while also coordinating with a group of questionably-experience individuals who were not motivated to do their jobs well, and ensuring that the organization's objectives were met. In short, it was my first time managing without any authority and still getting the job done while preserving relationships, a skill that would later serve me well in the exceedingly complex and dynamic environment at Zaelot.

Student Ambassadors work preview events, give tours, and help represent the campus at all times.I consider this my first real sales job (especially high-end) and I loved it. I learned to view sales as being an "assistant buyer" and really care about the client rather than trying to pull a fast one. To this end, I often gave extended personal tours and spent extra time with students and families far beyond expectation (I let many of them stay with me while on campus), all of which resulted in dozens of commitments to attend LeTourneau. I've had the privilege of staying in touch with a few of those now-graduated students and their families, and most of them still remember their tours and cite it as a deciding factor.

The Student Body Vice President serves as the leader of the Student Senate, presides over Senate sessions, is responsible for Senator training, and serves as a member of the Executive Cabinet.During my term, I oversaw a 200%+ increase in representation, hosted a multitude of speakers from the upper administration of the University, completed years worth of fundamental changes and improvements to our guiding laws, completely rebuilt the new Senator training process from the ground up. At the conclusion of my term, Senator retention was over double what it had been the year before, the quality of the average senator had improved dramatically, and a new generation of leaders stood ready to take the organization to the next level and continue the work we started.I learned how to lead at a scale beyond a single team, managing teams-of-teams and driving vision for an entire organization. I also learned how to hand off that vision and transition an org after preparing it to thrive without my personal involvement. Student government showed me the value good systems and process in a high-turnover environment, and that lesson has stayed with me ever since.

The President Pro Tempore (PPT) serves as the highest-ranking senator in the Senate, and is in charge of forming and managing all committees in Senate, and selecting their chairs and members. The PPT works to ensure that all senate operations function smoothly, and is in charge of enforcing attendance and performance requirements. The PPT is elected by a vote of Senate and serves for a year.For my part, I was the most active PPT in recent history, working tirelessly to improve Senate's reputation and operation, mostly notably with the creation and management of the first Senate wiki (see links above), as well as a total revamp of the Constitution. My time as PPT taught me how organizations operate, how people operate, and how to deal with the fact that neither organizations nor people like to operate efficiently or effectively. It was my first true management position, and I loved it.

Engineering Assistant to a senior staff engineer at a leading server cabinet manufacturer. Responsibilities included cabinet assembly and disassembly, destructive load testing, organization, troubleshooting, errand running, clean-up, unpacking, and competitor assessment.I learned how to operate independently and deliver projects without direct management. I also credit this job for helping ignite a lifelong passion for IT systems and infrastructure - the stuff behind the stuff that makes modern life work.
