Zaelot acquired Axon Consulting in February 2023. After joining the Zaelot team, I spent two months learning everything I could about the organization and meeting with the entire leadership team multiple times before stepping into the role of Interim CEO in April. As Interim CEO, I led Zaelot's modernization and scaling efforts and eliminated the organization's debt while doubling year-over-year revenue, all in preparation for M&A.I led the due diligence team as we prepared to merge with Gangverk ehf., and served as primary point of contact for both sides throughout the process. Following the successful conclusion of the merger in mid-2023, I stayed on for a couple of months to complete the transition and hand off operational control to Iceland before gracefully exiting.

Due to my maintenance degree and background, my primary responsibility was to manage the acquisition of new aircraft by VBA. The sales team would identify a probable target in some remote area of North America, and I'd manage all travel to get myself out to go take a look at the plane, inspect it, and eventually (usually) purchase it in cooperation with the sales team. From there, it was my responsibility to get the newly acquired aircraft home, operating completely solo and with minimal support. I'd brave bad weather, mechanical problems, and generally weird circumstances, but I always made it home to close the sale.I learned a ton about high-pressure/high-end sales and survived multiple in-flight emergencies that honed my ability to stay cool under pressure and keep flying the plane, no matter what happens.

Sure enough, the company went under a couple years later.At Sandhills, I learned how to operate independently without support while also coordinating with a group of questionably-experience individuals who were not motivated to do their jobs well, and ensuring that the organization's objectives were met. In short, it was my first time managing without any authority and still getting the job done while preserving relationships, a skill that would later serve me well in the exceedingly complex and dynamic environment at Zaelot.
