The Arch. & Patterns team within GTIS Engineering owns the consolidated engineering roadmap, aligns with business cluster, application roadmaps and enterprise architecture. Chief architect for the UK consumer bank. A relatively small but functionally complete retail bank, comprising current accounts, credit cards, loans and mortgages

End to end responsibility for the bank's infrastructure in the UK, from design, purchase, build to support, with a small team of 5 technicians, I installed, configured and supported a Lucent Definity GR3 voice switch, Cisco based network using 5509 switch chassis, NT4 servers, HP-UX servers for dialler functions, Lotus Notes and Cyberguard SCO UNIX based firewalls, internet presence, Oracle databases and application servers and mail routing. Plus the desktop, telephony systems and integration for a 300 seat contact centre.

Installation, and support of network equipment incuding Cisco routers and switches, BT NTU's and multiplexors, Netware 3.11 servers and Windows 3 workstations at ~80 quarries, block factories, surfacing material factories, offices, labs, and major build sites (eg M5 surfacing) across the UK.

As part of a small team supporting 20+ businesses within the How Group of HVAC/Monitoring and management companies, I developed software in Paradox, VB, C and Delphi. Installed Ethernet networks using thick backbones, taps and thin floor loops, Netware 286, Netware 3.11, UMIPS UNIX servers, ICL System 25 support. Gandalf Starmaster Access server V24 WAN design, config and support, BACS interface, NCR UNIX Servers, and provided 3rd line support to users across the United Kingdom.

Dealing with both retail customers and small to large corporations including SEMA Group, 3 of the 4 health authorities in Birmingham, multiple local manufacturing businesses, the Birmingham Evening Mail, VAR's and IT consultants, I designed, built and repaired workstations and servers using Solidisk's inventory of parts and equipment. I handled sales, accounting, banking, maintenance of the premises, stock, build, and repairs, of this branch of a nationwide business.
