I have three executive and non-executive roles, and work at the intersection of data, financial markets, a changing climate, and the different ways the built environment needs to decarbonize. ADL Ventures helps large government agencies, utility providers and listed companies accelerate their decarbonization goals, often with R&D support, accelerator programs or new company spin outs that address a specific problem statement within their strategy. Success stories include insulation material designer Liatris, methane measurement tool TrelliSense, and solar financing outfit Energetic Insurance (now Energetic Capital). I assist on several projects, including but not limited to clients seeking to accelerate innovation in Industrialized Construction (IC). Climate Core Capital is a real estate investment firm building portfolios of high performance buildings in low climate risk locations. The firm works with large investors who understand a large repricing is underway, and want to hold assets in locations with lower climate risk, higher climate readiness, and growth for reasons unrelated to the climate. The firm has an analytics platform and adjacent business, Coastline, sharing data insights on how climate change is reshaping the places we live, work, study and retire. The Harvard Center for Green Buildings and Cities (CGBC) conducts research in four dimensions: design and operation, high-performance materials and construction, technology adoption and diffusion, and sustainable planning. In conjunction with Prof. Holly Samuelson and the School of Architecture, I assist on building technology research related to owner paybacks, and technology adoption pricing.
