The RWCA was created to ensure that people living with HIV/AIDS receive core medical services and key support services thereby enabling them to live healthy, stable lives. The Council serves DC, VA (11 counties), MD (5 counties) and WV (2 counties) and administers approximately $29 million annually. The Council assesses total need, need met by primary health care service funding sources (private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid, local and state health programs, etc), and then does its best to fill the gaps remaining with the funds at its disposal.
