Cae Intern
I did 4-months full-time internship in high tech start-up company named Volocopter GmbH in Bruchsal HQ office. During my internship, I took part in the development of batteries for electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft and I was responsible for structural simulations of battery components.During my work here, I gained experience in the following subjects:• Performed analytical and numerical stiffness calculations for battery components. Finite element models built with sufficient correlation rate between analytical calculations. Modal, buckling, linear and non-linear static analysis has been performed for emergency landing loading conditions. Puck and maximum strain theories used for composite material failure investigations. Hypermesh is used as pre-processor, Optistruct as solver and Hyperview as post-processor.• Calculation results are documented and presented design engineers.• Worked in agile working environment and become part of the highly diverse team from different technical backgrounds such as electrical, chemical, metallurgical and mechanical engineering.• Involved the team sprint activities for battery development topics and daily scrum meetings.
Cae Master Thesis
I wrote my master thesis in Volvo Group Truck Technology – Lundby R&D Center for the next generation battery electric heavy duty trucks. I am working in vehicle analysis – structural dynamics department and the aim of my thesis is finding suitable methods for correlation between the physical tests and finite element calculations. To achieve that purpose, we developed three different correlation method and test them with vibration measurements on 7 Post Shaker Rig.During my thesis study, I gained experience in the following subjects:• Real Eigenvalue, Frequency and Transient Response Analyses on heavy duty vehicle by using Ansa as Pre-Processor, Meta as Post Processor and Nastran as a solver.• Experimental and operational modal analysis.• Vibration measurements on 7 Post Shaker Rig, evaluating the measurement data in Matlab.• Improving the FE model according to test results in Ansa.• Signal processing and creating scripts for FE calculations in Matlab.
Cae Intern
I did 6-months full-time internship in EDAG Engineering GmbH, Sindelfingen office. During my internship, I took part in the development of passenger cars for Mercedes-Benz AG, Mercedes-Benz G GmbH and Mercedes-AMG GmbH with FEM simulations. I made both component and entire vehicle based finite element analysis using Ansa as Pre-Processor, Abaqus or Nastran as Solver, Meta as Post Processor. During my internship, I gained experience in the following subjects:• Building finite element models for complex automotive structural parts. Worked with steel, aluminum, and composite parts and investigate their durability performance. • Doing research on composite materials and building finite element models for automotive applications with using Ansa composite toolbox. Performing linear static and dynamic analysis to calculate their performance under different loading conditions.• Worked together with design engineers and become a simulation responsible of carbon fiber reinforced polymer parts in SUV development project. Investigated failure theories of composites. • Calculation method development for various calculation projects to increase accuracy level of finite element analysis results. • Held meetings with design engineers according to analysis results and giving them optimization proposals.
Cae Bachelor Thesis
I wrote my bachelor thesis in Daimler Truck AG – Istanbul R&D Center for the next generation Mercedes-Benz Actros variants. My thesis is about stress analysis of an air tube bracket on a vehicle’s chassis and the goal is to optimize the air tube bracket in order to reduce its vibrations under dynamic loads of rough road conditions. To achieve the most sustainable and efficient design, every optimization proposal designed and simulated in the scope of my thesis, using NX, Medina and Permas software.During my thesis study, I gained experience in the following subjects.• Literature search of bracket optimization tasks on heavy duty commercial vehicle industry.• Finite element modelling of a complex automotive structures.• Structural analysis and structural optimization.• Static and modal based dynamic analysis by using Medina as Pre/Post Processor and Permas as a solver.• Holding meetings with design engineering teams according to analysis results. Creating presentations on Powerpoint about latest results.
Pep Intern
I did my internship for a year in the entire vehicle technical project management team at the Istanbul Research and Development Center, one of the global R&D centers of Daimler Truck AG. I worked to ensure that Daimler's new trucks planned to be released for the South America and China market meet the required quality conditions according to CVDS (Commercial Vehicle Development System). During the CVDS trainings, I learned about the processes of a product from concept to launch. During my internship, I gained experience in the following subjects.• Conducting digital mock up (DMU) review on Siemens NX for newly planned Mercedes-Benz trucks and presenting the buildability reports in Microsoft Excel to the sub-project leader.• Supporting sub-project leader to create the concept book of the new trucks. Planning international meetings for all technical inputs from different Daimler Truck R&D locations such as Germany, Brazil and Turkey.• Planning the topics weekly before meetings and documentation of the decisions taken.• Creating presentations on Powerpoint monthly about team activities to my manager and director.
