Manager Tailored Climate ProjectionsCsiro Aug 2009 - Oct 2014Aspendale, Victoria, AustraliaJohn has led the development of tailored climate change projections for a wide range of national and international stakeholders since August 2009. He has over 20 years’ experience undertaking, interpreting, applying and communicating science to a range of clients in the fields of climate change impacts and adaptation, and conservation ecology. John coordinated the development of the world class Climate Change in Australia website overhaul, launched in 2015. Previously he led the development and roll-out of the Pacific Climate Change Science Program’s highly successful Pacific Climate Futures web-tool (www.pacificclimatefutures.net) which was launched in 2011. He has worked extensively in-country with many Pacific Island colleagues to help build capacity in those nations. John has also had a significant influence on the management of conservation lands in Queensland, Australia, particularly in the fields of threatened species and fire management. His Masters research focused on the ecology of, and climate change impacts on one of Australia’s most endangered frog species. He has been a member of the IUCN Amphibian Specialist Group since its inception in 2005 and contributed to the Global Amphibian Assessments in 2004 and 2006. His expertise lies in assessing the climate information needs of impacts and adaptation projects, developing climate projections datasets, design and analysis of research, interpretation of research findings into management actions, science communication, assessing impacts on ecological systems, and development of decision support systems. John has many years’ experience giving presentations, media interviews and has written and contributed to a range of reports and peer-reviewed publications.
