Philip Bernstein is an iOS Developer located in the greater NYC area. Referring to yourself in the third party is really weird isn't it? I have years of experience developing iOS applications for both enterprise and commercial use. I have about 5 years of experience with Objective-C, and 3 years experience with Swift on wide-release projects. My main speciality is quickly getting projects off the ground for companies of any size. My specialty in mobile is media, I have intimate knowledge of iOS Audio/Video frameworks. I taught myself to program (or started to) at the end of 8th grade, and it has been my passion all the way to now. Creating new things through technology is my biggest passion, and nothing else gives me the amount of satisfaction I get from finishing a project.I attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst for 1 year before dropping out to pursue my iOS engineering career. I have since worked at numerous startups creating mobile applications. I have had several apps in the App Store, one reaching the top 25 overnight, and have accumulated over a million downloads. I no longer maintain or develop apps for the store on a consistent basis, nor do I currently have any uploaded.I'm always open to chat, shoot me a message if you think you might have a project I'd be interested in!

Sr. Ios EngineerFresco News Feb 2016 - Jan 2017New York, Ny, UsMy goal is to empower anyone and anywhere (with an iPhone...) the ability to share the news they see around them, and get paid when their content is used by news organizations around the world. My job is to manage the full development cycle of our new iOS application, and managing / programming most of it's codebase.Oversaw the launch and support of our new 3.0 build, which launched in late October 2016. -
Ios EngineerOpen Toggle, Llc Aug 2014 - Mar 2016Sole-proprietorship LLC designed for me to work on new projects. No projects currently in distribution, as I mainly experiment with new technologies and rarely (if ever) build a commercial product. I also use this to do & bill contract work.

Ios EngineerHootl Sep 2015 - Nov 2015I was a first hire at a company designed to build an education application. The company eventually shifted to a fashion application, then shifted to a gift application. The project required constant interaction between me, the designer, and the CEO. Through the entire thing, I managed the office, managed our servers & wrote our server code (AWS:Ubuntu, PHP, MySQL) and began creating our iOS project in Objective-C. Ultimately, the company ran out usable money after pivoting one too many times, and folded in November of 2015. It was a wild ride.

Ios DeveloperOverture.Me Mar 2015 - Oct 2015Worked at a media startup building a complex and intuitive video editor and producer. Worked with an engineering team, which required constant interaction and collaboration. Tools used included video capture, video trimming, video compilation, video filtering, video conversion (Apple's QuickTime to a more usable MP4 container). Major problems solved were the fact that Apple's AV media container does not correctly fill itself with content, resulting in conflicts when combining clips. Despite the intensity of some of these operations, the program was able to contain itself to less than 40mb of RAM and 25% CPU. GPU (for OpenGL shading/filters) usage was also never at a compromising level. -
Ios EngineerOzeta Designs Nov 2010 - Mar 2015This is the guise of a company that I started when I was a freshman in high school to create and distribute applications on the iOS and Mac app store (I was not yet the required age of 18). I had one app reach the top 25 overnight, and accumulated over a million total downloads. Due to time required on other projects, none of these apps are currently available / maintained. These projects also won me a scholarship to attend Apple's Worldwide Developer Conference in San Francisco in 2012.

Ios EngineerHealth Shepherd May 2013 - Dec 2014Worked for a health related startup on their mobile prototype. Learned the basic fundamentals of machine learning, and heavily relied on my skills for user experience. We used some paradigms that have not been used on any other mobile program (to my knowledge). This project primarily required knowledge of user experience, animation, database (core data) management, notifications, as well as user interaction.Worked in collaboration with Seth's ideas, but had no engineering team working with me. All work done was a collaboration between me and my boss, no other engineers.
-
Software Engineering InternVisible World May 2012 - Aug 2012Developed an iPad application to provide critical performance data to the product team, and introduced the development team to Objective-C and iOS development. Critically used components were internet networking, MapKit (overlays), and database management (SQL and CoreData). This is where I was introduced to agile development and scrum, which we performed daily. Worked in an engineering team of 6 people, but operated largely on my own due to the fact that no one knew Objective-C.

Lead Ios DeveloperRokker Feb 2011 - Jan 2012Technical co-founder of a revolutionary music service at age 14. We had tens of thousands of users, and produced an excellent product. Sadly, the iOS application never made it to market due to outside pressure from YouTube and the RIAA.
