Dr. Balis is a Radio Access Network specialist, focusing on professional training for Mobile and Wireless Communications Technologies. Since 2004, Dr. Balis has provided hundreds of training courses and seminars globally, on behalf of Ericsson. Moreover, since 2020, he cooperates with the IEEE Communications Society for the development and delivery of training courses in the areas of 5G, Open RAN and IoT. In the period 1997-2003, Dr. Balis has worked for Vodafone Greece, where he has coordinated a wide range of RAN auditing and verification activities and has participated in various network optimization studies, including the development of a GPRS traffic simulator. Dr. Balis has obtained his Degree in Electrical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and the Degrees of M.Sc. (Distinction) and Ph.D. from the University of Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. Furthermore, he holds an MBA Degree from Athens University of Economics and Business. He has authored a total of 6 research papers focusing on the areas of propagation modeling, mobility management and service performance. He is a member of the Technical Chamber of Greece and an IEEE Member since 1995.
