As a co-op in the Active Safety Performance Development department, I am responsible for supporting several projects related to the active driver-assistance systems. One project I am responsible for is creating a data acquisition system using vehicle CAN to test and improve the Road Departure Mitigation and Lane Departure Warning systems. Another one of my projects is to write a Python script to process testing video and identify failures in the hands-free steering system. Additionally, I am collecting data and building a vehicle model that will be used in a hardware-in-the-loop simulation to calibrate the vehicle’s active driver-assistance systems.

I worked in the Frame Systems team under the Chassis group, and was tasked with developing a new component for the company to solve a quality issue with an off-the-shelf product. The designs I created reduced complexity on the assembly line by eliminating the need for fifty percent of the current offerings. This project gave me the opportunity to understand the customer's needs and analyze how other products on the market failed to meet those needs. This project also taught me how to use Siemens NX for design and simulation, and aPriori for manufacturing cost estimates. Throughout the summer, I participated in team design reviews to present the progress made on my project and learn about other projects within the team. This taught me about the challenges commonly faced in the automotive industry, especially with the new goal of electrification.

I was responsible for utilizing my understanding of the Statics course content to help my students be successful. These responsibilities included running weekly office hours to answer students' questions, aiding students in their discussion sections, and providing feedback to the course instructors and TAs on how the course and instruction materials could be improved.

As Crew Lead, I acted as a shift supervisor, ensuring proper operations of the Centennial Grill. This included opening and closing the grill, making the end-of-day deposits, and directing staff throughout the shift. This role helped me develop the ability to think ahead to prevent future issues, think on my feet when things don't go as planned, and hold others accountable even in challenging situations.

As a Centennial Grill Attendant, I first acted as a runner and then as breaker. As runner, my job was to fill and deliver food orders and communicate with the cook and cashier to keep up on tasks. As breaker, I was responsible for preparing food and restocking items throughout the shift, as well as sending staff on their break, temporarily acting as cashier, runner, and cook.
