Peter Noble Email and Phone Number
I am passionate about improving access to justice and well-being through effective legal assistance services. Victoria Legal Aid helps people with their legal problems; with a focus on prevention and early resolution. VLA prioritises more intensive legal services such as legal advice and representation for people who meet eligibility criteria, based on their financial situation, the nature and seriousness of their problem and their individual circumstances. The role of Executive Director - Regions and Service Delivery is a SES2 role forming part of VLA's senior executive team. The role was created to provide organisational leadership on strategic and systemic issues impacting on regional access to justice and legal aid service delivery and has evolved to provide a single point of executive responsibility for VLAs metropolitan regional services. It is also designed to enhance the participation and influence of staff and other regionally based service providers in legal aid policy settings, and to lead designated innovation and pilot projects across Victoria.Since joining VLA in 2016 (originally as the ED Services and Innovation), my work has focused on data-driven planning, innovative service design and meeting the justice needs of rural and regional communities. I led the establishment of VLA’s first health justice partnership in Mildura, the development of the organisation’s data strategy and am currently leading a multi-year program of work to ensure legal assistance services are positioned to meet emerging needs of outer-metropolitan and regional and a service design team. I oversee a ~$70M administration program across 21 streams to 41 Victorian Community Legal Centres, and a service design function that focusses on user and lived experience. I also support VLA's Director, First Nations Services to deliver improved outcomes for First Nations clients, staff and communities. I was the VLA appointee to the Board of the Victoria Law Foundation from 2018-21, having previously served on the Boards of the Public Interest Law Clearing House (Victoria), Tear Australia (now Tearfund Australia) and St Luke's Anglicare (now Anglicare Victoria). I was awarded Community Lawyer of the Year in 2008 by the Law Institute of Victoria and received a Clayton Utz Foundation Fellowship in 2012 to research Medical Legal Partnerships in the United States of America.
