Maven is a software company which has built and runs the Maven Knowledge Discovery Platform. It is a suite of tools that powers "micro-consulting" between its members in the form of phone consultations and electronic surveys. The Maven network contains hundreds of thousands of of industry professionals, thought leaders, and experts, located in over 200 countries, who seek to connect with others to share their knowledge. The KDC is used for accessing external opinion and perspective, as well as internally where it facilitates collaboration and knowledge sharing between colleagues. In May 2013, Maven launched Knowledge Communities, which allows corporations to use Maven as as SaaS platform, where their entire workforce is on the network, collaborating amongst themselves. As Maven’s CTO, I directly led and managed all delivery and cross functional teams at Maven (engineering, QA, business intelligence, product design, product management, branding, and network operations) for over 5 years. As part of my role, I grew a large captive engineering team of nearly 20 in Eastern Europe (Ukraine). Through a bespoke SCRUM based SDLC, the team collaborates with stateside product management, releasing new builds to production ever 2 – 4 weeks. Maven raised a series A financing round from Accel Partners, and GSV Partners

My role as CTO was to re-invent the technology organization, transforming it from an IT mindset into a software company. My initiatives vastly altered the Outspark landscape, expanding from a tightly coupled, isolated architecture into a socially connection, SAAS platform with open api’s, and deep back end integrations to social platforms like Facebook and OpenID/Oauth. As CTO, I was responsible for a global delivery and operations in 3 offices; China, Korea, and in the US. In addition, I directly managed cross functional teams including Network Operations, Technology Operations, QA, Core Development, Front End Development, UI/UX design, and Business Intelligence/Data-warehousing. • Introduced SCRUM methodology company-wide, with 2 week release cycles (previously this was completely unmanaged and ad-hoc)• Implemented high availability, scalable hybrid production environment consisting of services rendered through CDN, Memcache, clustering, virtualization, and physical hosts. • Increased availability increased in 1 year from 96% to 99.9% through optimization of the physical system topology and improvements in software / platform implementation. On target goal for 6/2012 was 99.999%. • Managed company-wide product strategy efforts – all aspects design through deployment, from ideation to prioritization of sponsorship and development of all product features• Re-invented the Outspark platform into socially integrated platform from the a standalone model• Built and launched the Flint development portal and APIs – Flint allowed 3rd party game developers to self publish once the Outspark platform, there by gaining access to OSK payment gateways, CS services, server technology, business intelligence system/reports and Facebook integration that is done in the back end of the application stack.• Rebuilt and deployed new design for Outspark.com portal, improving branding and UI/UX experience.
