Pedro Gonçalves, Co-founder and Strategy and International Relations Director at Terradue, specializes in assisting international organizations, research institutions, and commercial entities to leverage modern computational resources and data capabilities for enhancing their Earth Observation (EO) projects. Pedro focuses on developing solutions that provide Terradue's partners with powerful data analysis tools and fostering the creation of dedicated cloud marketplaces for EO value-added services.Pedro was instrumental in the founding of Terradue, becoming the first incubatee of the European Space Agency (ESA) Business Incubation Centre (BIC) in Lazio, Italy. During his postdoctoral research at ESA's ESRIN facility, he developed the Grid Processing on-Demand (G-POD) for EO applications, a key innovation that led to the establishment of Terradue. The company, specializing in data-intensive applications, supports the Copernicus programme and processes a wide range of data from 33 EO missions, acquired by a constellation of satellites from various agencies and companies.Pedro's expertise extends to the competitive landscape of the EO and space sectors, encompassing consortium dynamics, procurement policies under European Commission's Horizon Europe and ESA frameworks, and CAPEX/OPEX considerations for IaaS/PaaS providers. He offers strategic insights into evolving trends and future opportunities in the growing EO value-added services market.Additionally, Pedro plays an active role in the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC), co-chairing the EO Exploitation Platforms Domain Working Group alongside ESA and Natural Resources Canada (NRCAN). This collaboration aims to tackle interoperability issues in EO technologies. Pedro also contributes to the Intergovernmental Group on Earth Observations (GEO) Expert Advisory Group, striving to enhance the availability, access, and usage of Earth observations for societal benefits.
