Currently retained as a consultant by the Civil Engineering program of Alabama A&M University (AAMU), providing guidance to prepare their Self-Study document for the forthcoming ABET on-site evaluation for quality control of all AAMU engineering programs. Major tasks involve analysis, documentation and presentation of Student Learning Outcome data and Action Plans for continuous improvement of the Civil Engineering Program.

I was recruited by the Civil Engineering (CE) department as the first faculty with a Ph.D in civilengineering in 1982. I had the privilege of developing key CE laboratories with the aid of grants andresearch contracts from federal agencies such as NSF and DOD. I have been instrumental in structuring the CE curriculum and its continuous program improvement over 34 years.Extensive experience in program evaluation by Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET): Primarily responsible for articulation of the ABET self study reports and other preparations for successful ABET visits since 2000 till 2012. Coordinated development/implementation of a new post-graduate program in Materiel Engineering with an option in CE (launched in 2008).Awarded "Outstanding Teaching and Services in Engineering Education (Civil)" the School of Engineering and Technology.

Research Areas of Interest:Structural Analysis and Design - Concrete and Steel; Engineering Mechanics/Computational Mechanics: Multiscale Modeling of Continua, Molecular Dynamics, Coupled Multiphysics Modeling, Finite Element Analysis of Structural, Computational Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer problems: h-, p-, h-p-versions; Parallel Computing; Structural Composites - Elastic (LEFM) and Elasto-Plastic Fracture Analysis; Fluid-Structure Interaction; Ground-Lining Interaction; Tunnel Linings; Underground Storage-structures.Received multiple research contracts and grants from federal agencies such as NSF and DOD. As Principal Investigator (P.I.) managed research and R/D teams of full time faculty members and research assistants interacting with various agency program managers. Responsible for preparing and maintaining budgets. Prepared periodic technical and financial reports in addition to conducting research. Wrote the final technical reports and developed users manuals for the deliverable software systems. Presented progress reports to agency program managers at the agency facilities. Presented and published significant findings in technical professional conferences and proceedings.Conducted workshops on Structural Steel Design for the engineers of NASA in Huntsville.

While on sabbatical leave, I taught Design of Steel Structures introducing the new Indian steel design code (IS:800) and comparing the Eurocode and the American code. Presented seminars on Finite Modeling by p-version. Discussed potential research collaboration with IIT faculty.

Successfully provided leadership and managed a research team consisting of five Ph.D.engineers and conducted exploratory research in the following projects for the development of a highly nonlinear CFD software system using an innovative approach:SBIR (Small Business Innovative Research) Phase I project entitled “P-VersionFinite Element Method for the Compressible Navier-Stokes Equation with and without Body Force”;Wright-Patterson AFB - National Aero-Space Plane (NASP) ProjectSBIR Option project entitled “Turbulent Flow Simulation By P-Version FEMAnd Adaptive Error Estimation.” - National Aero-Space Plane (NASP) Project, Ohio;

Worked on a US Department of Transportation sponsored project for Development of Design Recommendation for Concrete Tunnel Linings by large scale Physical Model Tests, and Parametric Studies using finite element methods. The work involved Finite Element Modeling, Program development, computer simulations of laboratory test results and parametric study of Ground-Lining interaction problems. Developed a large Non-linear Finite Element Structural Analysis System featuring common and special purpose finite elements and a companion Graphics package.

Structural Analysis and Design of Refinery and Petrochemical related structures and foundations such as Pipe-supports and Machine and Equipment Foundations; Coordination with various engineering departments, preparation of scheme, tender estimates of structures and guiding Junior Engineers and draftsmen in supervisory capacity; site visits for supervision of construction.

Worked as a structural design assistant in the underground Metro Railway Project of Calcutta during its initial design phase (first ever metro built in India).

Duties included: Structural Analysis, Design/detailing and specification writing; Projectsincluded reinforced concrete and steel framed Multistoried buildings, including R.C. Raft and Pilefoundations.
