As a physicist, I have a passion for solving puzzles every day. However, sometimes the solutions can't be found with just a pencil and paper. That's why I've honed my computational skills to model even the most challenging physical phenomena.With nearly thirty years of coding experience under my belt, I've gone from QBasic in elementary school to Python for scientific programming in the past decade. I recently discovered Julia and fell in love with its speed and efficiency. I specialize in using GPU-accelerated software to perform numerical simulations of magnetic systems at the nano-scale, and have developed post-processing skills to handle the vast amount of data produced by my simulations.When I'm not in the office, I find myself continuing to think about code. My daughter and I have been learning to program Minecraft and robots together, which has been a truly rewarding experience. I've also become interested in cloud services like AWS, as I believe this will be the future of computing, especially for the heavy-duty calculations that I perform daily. In fact, using EC2 instances in AWS has saved my lab money on hardware costs.
