[Check some of my side projects here: https://pablojoveralmirall.webnode.page]My life has been and still is, a journey of discovery, with one goal in mind: 'What can I do to build a better future and a more sustainable world for everyone?'The idea of figuring out how to achieve that goal, has encouraged me to seek knowledge and always look to keep learning and developing myself. I studied Industrial engineering with a concentration in power systems and pursued a double masters degree in engineering and industrial operations. Believing that the answer for a better future was by working in the energy sector, I worked for a public company in my city but quickly realised that the scope of impact was not even close to what the world needed.The pursue of changing the world brought me to the USA, where I had the chance to work for the leading energy distributor in one of the main cities of the country. Working in R&D and helping design the smart cities of the future I understood that emerging technology was the right path.With this idea in mind, I pivoted from the energy industry to emerging tech and joined a nanotech startup to then move to a leading consulting company that allowed me to access projects encompassing cloud computing, artificial intelligence and extended reality.But again, I felt that there should be more that I can do to make a bigger impact. I realised that the only way to do that is by taking the lead and making real and meaningful decisions. That is why I decided to pursue an MBA at a top tier world business school.After all this years, and with the same goal in mind, I still have the same question, 'What can I do to build a better future and a more sustainable world for everyone?' And here are my conclusions:Well, first, understand the world. Something I have realised is that knowledge not only comes from lectures, but also from experiences. I had the chance to work in different industries and positions, but above all I have been blessed with the chance to live around the world surrounded by people from all over it with different backgrounds and cultures.Second, any amount of impact you want to do is meaningless compared to the one you can achieve if you bring people together. Thus, the power of change resides in one's leadership skills.Last, technology and innovation is the way to build a better future. I have spent time publishing papers, patents and books as well as building startups and apps to hopefully find one day, the way to build a better future and a more sustainable word for everyone.
