I developed and implemented novel techniques to resonantly extract particle beams from synchrotrons. I collaborated with particle physics experiments, the European Space Agency and the medical facility MedAustron.Project: Advanced RF techniques for CERN’s future slow-extracted beams Tasks:----------- Develop numerical models, with emphasis on parallel computing, GPUs, code optimisation. E.g. sped-up particle tracking code by an order of magnitude by vectorizing operations and exploiting GPUs.- Analyse large datasets to extract useful insight. E.g. scripted the statistical analysis of a 100 GB dataset to understand the dominant frequency components of the experimental signal.- Employ analytical tools to complex systems: probability, statistics, signal processing, control theory and classical mechanics. E.g. reduced a model with 1500 parameters to 10 effective macro-parameters that captured the relevant dynamics of the system.- Exploit optimisation and machine learning algorithms. E.g. used the BOBYQA algorithm to find appropriate settings for beam delivery for FLASH therapy. Worked in SY-ABT-BTP.

I developed a simulation model for the CERN TT20 transfer line and exploited it to test new mechanisms for beam loss reduction. I also collaborated with the medical facility MedAustron to improve the efficiency of their beam delivery system.Project: Conceptual Beam Dynamics Studies of Splitting 400 GeV Proton Beam in North Area and Slow Extraction Studies.Tasks:------------ Developed Python modules to automate beam dynamics simulations.- Utilized MADX (Beam dynamics simulation software) to study different scenarios.- Performed several optimization routines to seek optimal solutions.Worked at TE-ABT-BTP.

Created an interactive risk and performance metrics web app for the NJIT Endowment Fund (over $100 million portfolio)The project relied on Bloomberg API (data acquisition) and Bokeh (Python-based web app development) to create a self-updating, flexible online DashboardPresented the web app to the NJIT Joint Investment Committee

Worked on a Data Acquisition and Data Analysis project for the NJIT Investment Fund. I designed a public Dashboard that will provide Investment Fund members and third parties with a Dashboard containing useful metrics and visualizations about the NJIT Investment Fund portfolio. Check it out here: https://njitinvestmentclub.herokuapp.comGoals of the project:- To automate stock market data download by using Python (Bloomberg API, Yahoo Finance and local input will be some of the options.)- To run quantitative analysis on downloaded data to generate performance graphs and valuable financial metrics.- To put everything into a professional looking Dashboard, that will be accesible as a heroku app.
