After graduating from CalArts, Pablo Calvillo started working as a Previs and Layout artist on movies such as Astroboy and The Night Fisherman. Later on he moved to Australia to work as a Story and Previs artist on Happy Feet 2 and Mad Max: Fury Road where he became a camera expert working closely with George Miller. In 2011, Pablo started at Blue Sky Studios as a Senior Previs artist on Epic, Rio, Ice Age: Continental Drift and then moved back to Australia to work at Animalogic on The Lego Movie. After completing that movie, Pablo moved to Mexico City and opened his own animation studio with two other partners, Maliarts Studios SC. It was there where he directed his first short animation The Inksect, winner of several international awards and still recognized as one of the most important animated shorts produced in Mexico. Since 2017, Pablo has produced, directed and supervised previs, layout, animation and vfx for several mini series, series, commercials and movies for global clients. Pablo has also been recently invited to work on the previs for films such as Blue Beetle and Lye, Lye, Crocodile. In 2022, Pablo started developing his first feature film called Blue Deer, written by Monika Revilla, a project co-produced by Maliarts, Psyop and IMCINE.
