This position involves providing help and advice on Information Governance issues within the NHS - specifically to areas of the National Programme for IT (NPfIT). The work is structured around the development of a number of 'work-packages' - effectively projects designed to embed IG controls in relevant areas of the programme. I am currently working on a work package to develop Audit systems in the NHS Care Records Service (NHS CRS) and also in supporting the Information Governance Statement of Compliance (IG Soc.) which enables access to NHS Networks.

Responsible for managing the information standard appraisal process for Technical, Management, Clinical as well as Social Care related Information Standards. I worked on a number of standards in this capacity including Technical information standards on Auto-ID (Bar Coding and Radio Frequency Identification - RFID) IG related standards including the Information Governance Toolkit (IGT) and Cryptography and Social Care related standards such as the Common Assessment Framework (CAF). In the absence of mature Information Standards emerging from Social Care systems at this stage I also took a Clinical Information Standard for the Radiotherapy Dataset through to full NHS Information Standard status, and I also supported appraisals in the Management Information domain including the Prison Health Management Dataset and the Genito-Urinary Medicine (GUM) Management Dataset the latter which was established as a full information standard in 2008.
