Collaboration grant with the "Departamento de Enxeñería Mecánica, Máquinas, Motores e Fluidos Térmicos" of the University of Vigo for the development of my bachelors project.The main objective of this project is to understand detonation and deflagration waves, and the transition between them (DDT), as well as the existing mathematical models that allow predicting their behavior. In order to achieve this, numerical simulations (CFD) have been carried out using the free software OpenFoam. During this study different models have been used (rhoCentralRfFoam and ddtFoam). Those models allow predicting the behavior of detonation waves and the transition from deflagration waves to detonation waves inside propulsion thrusters.The study was part of a research project (contract 4000131302/20/NL/MG) of the European Space Agency (ESA) carried out in collaboration with various European universities and technology centres.
