The workstation design was implemented with Group Policies and Active Directory resulting in a completely secure and locked down desktop while at the same time providing a 100% roaming profile for the end users. The infrastructure is completely secure using TCP\IP, LDAP and Active Directory. - Developed and maintain Microfocus COBOL scripts which run nightly to import mainframe data into SQL Server databases. - Completely architected the file, application and messaging Windows 2000 servers. Packaged over 120 applications using MSI scripts, which are deployed from the Windows 2000 servers and installed using Microsoft Windows Installer technology, Group Policies and Active Directory Services. - Designed and implemented the distribution mechanisms consisting of Active Directory, Group Policies, Microsoft Systems Management Server, Exchange 2000, SQL Server, Oracle Database and multiple Middleware technologies. All of these applications are designed to leverage Microsoft COM+, Corba and Microsoft DNA services and features. - Designed and implemented a complete and comprehensive backup distribution mechanism in the event that Group Policies or SMS failed. This architecture has resulted in a call center workstation uptime in excess of 98%.- Worked with the business units and corresponding operations groups to enact mutually acceptable Service Level Agreements.- Manage version control of all application source code that is packaged and then distributed to all CSO workstations. Version control is managed using PVCS as well as Active Directory. - Evaluated emerging PKI and Security solutions and provided ongoing support of firewalls, proxy servers, intrusion detection and TCP/IP and Internet security. -
Project Manager - ConsultantBear Stearns Oct 1998 - Jul 1999Greater New York City Area- Complete packaging of a suite of custom web-enabled financial software applications that provide independent securities brokers the ability to execute trades using Bear Stearns as a clearing house. All applications are accessed through the Netscape Navigator browser that is also part of the installation. This suite of applications is highly integrated with the installed operating system consequently requiring the installation package to be able to install a specific configuration on Microsoft Windows 98 SE, Windows NT 4.0, Windows ME, and Windows 2000/XP. The installation package had to be intelligent and intuitive enough to install the complete suite of applications on the broker’s computers without any end-user assistance or intervention. This Auto-Install CD automatically and completely installs these applications from the insert of the CD to the workstation being automatically restarted once installation is completed. The complete installation takes approximately 4 minutes. The installation program and supporting utilities were developed using Wise InstallMaster, NetInstall, Veritas WinInstall, InstallShield, WinBatch, VBA and Kixstart scripts. The packaged applications provide configuration and runtime support for Microsoft Visual Basic, Microsoft Visual C++, Java, Marimba Car files and Marimba Castanet Tuner. - Created as a component of the Auto-Install CD is a System Configuration Inspection utility that will, prior to the installation of any software, determine if the target computer has the necessary minimum requirements of software and hardware required by the various applications. These minimum requirements can be modified via initialization file settings that allow the installation package itself to be updated without the need to recompile and redistribute the Auto-Install CD. This utility is also included on the Auto-Install CD as a standalone executable allowing it to be run as a pre-installation site-reporting tool. -

Project Manager - ConsultantMetlife Aug 1992 - Feb 1993Greater New York City Area- Managed project consisting of the architectural design and implementation of the operating system and desktop platform and configuration for the over 500 sales offices, resulting in a standard more efficient and manageable platform. Evaluated, tested and selected hardware solution for the server and desktop platforms. Packaged configuration of servers so that an image of each type of server was placed on a master hard drive and shipped to the hardware vendor’s factory. The vendor would then configure each new server per our specification and then copy the master image to each new server at the factory and burn in the server. They would then ship and install each server at the sales office again following our documented procedures and provide on site hardware support. Provided third level support for the hardware vendor’s support engineers as well as MetLife’s help desk.- Architected the design and implementation of the Data Center’s and sales offices’ disaster recovery plan. This project was comprised of selecting a tape hardware and software vendor and implementing a tape rotation and backup schedule and off-site storage facility. Completed the project by writing the necessary programs to automate the entire backup process from connecting to the correct server to verifying the correct tape was in the drive for that server\day and complete logging of statistical information and error conditions. All possible backup scenarios were completely tested including the restoration of lost data in the event of a disaster. -
