“Acceptance” is what I have tattooed on my body. To me, it symbolizes the “aha” moment in my life when I decided at 19 years old that my experiences, choices, and mindset are what make me who I am.I wake up every day and remind myself that although there are many things that are out of my control… there are plenty more that are in my control such as:1. The people I surround myself with2. How kind I am to myself and others3. The boundaries I set4. What I do with my dreams, intentions, and fears5. What I learn from my mistakes6. Whether I put myself in someone else’s position and perspective7. My efforts8. How I advocate for others This list demonstrates my professional and personal values. Working as a direct support professional, registered behavior technician, and advocate counselor has allowed me opportunities to make a difference! These roles taught me the importance of creating more inclusive communities. By providing support and promoting independence, I am part of the change for breaking down barriers and promoting a more inclusive society. I am passionate about helping others and will continue to do. Wherever life may take me next, I'll be sure to bring my best self forward.
