UCS is a nonprofit using independent science to solve our planet's most pressing problems. I worked on the Climate and Energy team to organize a convening of frontline advocates and experts to discuss principles and strategies for an equitable energy grid. I also package together several years of UCS scientific analyses on climate impacts into location-specific policy memos and collaborated with advocacy partners to tailor the memos to be useful for their political contexts and campaigns.

F4GI is a nonprofit running the nation’s largest ongoing guaranteed income pilot. I joined the team to help cross apply their technical infrastructure to reform LA county’s pretrial justice system.

Recidiviz is a nonprofit building a common, extensible platform designed to power data-driven interventions in criminal justice. I started as a volunteer at Recidiviz, then, during the pandemic, took a leave of absence from school to be full-time. I co-led Recidiviz’s policy analysis initiative from inception to supporting advocacy in 20+ states, contributing as both a data scientist and product manager to build policy memos around quantitative modeling and deliver them to state-level advocates. Co-designed forecasting model, personally modeled 50+ policies, scoped and executed project development, and managed 10+ volunteers and contractors. Also pulled into scoping, research, data science, and hiring for other projects as Recidiviz grew from 5 employees to 50.

I co-designed the mechanical system of the docking coupler central to Orbit Fab’s vision of re-fuelable spacecraft. In addition to design work, I supported the validation and productization of the coupler for Orbit Fab’s first round of sales.Orbit Fab envisions a thriving in-space market for products and services that support both existing space businesses (communications and Earth observation) and new industries like space tourism, manufacturing, and mining. The first step is achieving ubiquitous availability of satellite propellant in Earth Orbit, expanding the operational potential of new and existing space assets and providing unprecedented business model flexibility for satellite owners. The future for satellites is no longer restricted to the fuel they are launched with. It is about getting the fuel and other materials they need, where and when they need it, to accomplish things never thought possible.
