Coordinated efforts to build urban farming partnerships between the congregation and Urban Tree Connection, a West Philadelphia non-profit. Worked with the community to engage issues of prison reform and mass incarceration through study and collaboration with Decarcerate PA.

Led a three-person team in conducting all resource development activities for the organization, including funder relationships; prospect research; grant writing; event management; sponsorship solicitation; donor cultivation; and membership. • Facilitated external evaluation, strategic restructuring, and staff development process for Adolescent Wellness Institute afterschool program, transitioned out of direct program management in June 2009.

• Led development of the Adolescent Wellness Institute from a ten-week pilot project to a year-round afterschool program with outreach to hundreds of DC teens. Built staff and volunteer resources, managed six-person program team, developed budgets, and secured partnerships and in-kind support.• Researched and drafted curricula; planned and led weekly educational sessions for youth age 14-21. Conducted individual and small group counseling with at-risk teens in program, including referrals to appropriate support services.

• Assisted in preparation of grant proposals to secure $45 million in funding between 2005 and 2008. Responsible for grants compliance and reporting functions; tracked deadlines and maintained files. • Drafted press releases, media alerts, articles, and talking points to maximize local health news coverage. Edited copy for quarterly newsletter, testimony to City Council, reports, recommendations, and white papers.• Event manager for conferences, receptions, and public forums including DCPCA’s Annual Meeting – a day-long health professional conference with 300+ attendees. Raised $300,000 in sponsorship for five Annual Meetings; secured Pulitzer Prize-nominee Maya Angelou as keynote for 10th anniversary event.

• Drafted and designed event invitations, individual donor solicitations, press releases, and media alerts for low-income women’s reproductive health helpline. • Provided ground-level logistical support at fundraising events.
